Junior school age
Children are usually accepted to preparatory school at the age of 4. Such schools are mostly day schools, i.e. non-boarding. There are both single-sex and coeducational schools and the main purpose of these schools is the preparation of students for entry into senior schools.
At preparatory school children usually study from the age of 4 to 11 or 13, when they take entry exams for senior school (also often called secondary school).
